2025 

  • Mingyue Zhang has been awarded the SSHRC Insight Grant (2025-2029) to support her research on the social issues in financially distressed firms. 
  • Mingyue Zhang has been awarded the SSHRC Insight Development Grant (2025-2027) to support her research on the interaction of disclosure and valuation of intangible assets. 
  • Tony Wirjanto, Johnny Li, Ben Feng, Adam Kolkiewicz, David Landriault, Bin Li, David Saunders, Ken Seng Tan, Ruodu Wang, Chengguo Weng, Fan Yang, Laura Middleton, and Jason Thistlethwaite received funding support from the Society of Actuaries’ Center of Actuarial Excellence for their project, “Maintaining Financial Stability in an Era of Changing Climate and Demographics” (2018–2025).

2024

  • Daniel Kim has been awarded the SSHRC Insight Development Grant (2024-2026) to support his research on the intersection of finance, sustainability, and public policy.
  • Tony Wirjanto was awarded a highly competitive research grant by Society of Actuaries Research Institute on a project with a title: The Impact of Climate Change Risk on Retirement. His team members consist of experts in the field from RBC.
  • Kaishu Wu's paper titled "A Tale of Two Taxes: Does Corporate Income Tax Avoidance Undermine the Role of Environmental Taxation in Promoting Environmental Sustainability?" has received funding support from the CSPM. 

  • Liz Demers attended a workshop at John Molson School of Business, Concordia University, Montréal, Québec presenting my co-authored paper (with J. Hendrikse and M. Metzner), “TCFD Reporting: Early Evidence Related to the Future of Global Climate-Related Disclosures”
  • Liz Demers attended a workshop at Smith School of Business, Queen’s University, Kingston, ON presenting my co-authored paper (with J. Adams and K. Klassen), “Tax Aggressive Behavior and Voluntary Tax Disclosures in Corporate Sustainability Reporting”
  • We are pleased to share that a CSPM advisory board member and ESG Global's CEO, Sarah Keyeshas been recognized by the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD) for International Women's Day!   • Liz Demers was appointed to the CAAA’s Board of Directors and, as of July 1st, 2024, she is serving as Research Committee Chair.
  • Together|Ensemble 2024 Conference. Waterloo, Canada, May 2024. Leah Feor was the co-master of the ceremony. 

  • Liz Demers was appointed to the CPA Ontario Sustainability Advisory Committee (SAC), comprised of 12-14 senior sustainability leaders from around Ontario with diverse backgrounds, for a three-year term. This committee will shape the future of the profession in sustainability reporting and assurance, and the first meeting will take place in March 2024.
  • Liz Demers was invited to serve as an inaugural member of CPA Ontario’s new Sustainability Strategic Advisory Committee
  • Liz Demers was invited to serve as an inaugural committee member of SKEMA Transitions, a sustainability initiative of SKEMA Business School, France
  • Liz Demers was invited to serve as a director of the Swiss Accounting Research Alpine Camp (SARAC)

  • Jillian Adams, a research assistant with the CSPM, was the recipient of the 2022 Warren Ober Award for Outstanding Teaching by a Graduate Student within the Faculty of Arts. Congratulations Jillian!

  • The Implementation Committee for the Canadian Sustainability Standards Board (CSSB) is now operational, with 13 newly appointed members working to develop the initial institutional structure for the CSSB.
