The University's home page has a new look

A screenshot of the University's new homepage

If you’ve visited the University’s website today, you may have noticed that the home page has a new look. The new flexible layout is part of the WCMS 3 website migration and has been redesigned to better serve our current and future students.

This new layout offers more opportunities for the promotion and celebration of campus activities, stories and events — like orientation week, convocation, recruitment and other key campus milestones. The home page is the front door to our website, and we want to make it as welcoming as possible for our current and future students to find the information they need.

All of the new home page features will be available for use across all WCMS 3 sites and support multimedia enhancements like video and animation. If you’d like to learn more about the new design or the features available for your WCMS 3 website, please reach out to the Digital Communications team

Student leaders to remember Stephanie Ye-Mowe at event today

In honour of former WUSA President Stephanie Ye-Mowe who recently passed away, a group of student leaders have organized a memorial space today from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Needles Hall 3308.

Stephanie served as Vice-President, Education of the Waterloo Undergraduate Student Association (WUSA) from 2021 to 2022, and was acclaimed to a term as vice-president in 2022. She served as WUSA's president in 2022 and 2023 and had spent several years prior to that involved in the organization. "At WUSA, Stephanie worked on a number of different initiatives including helping to develop the University’s Digital Learning Strategy, launching the Teaching Innovation Incubator and helping to bring IMPACT, a program that sees mental health workers and police team up to provide mental health care to students in crisis, to Waterloo’s main campus," says a tribute article on WUSA's website. "Through WUSA, Stephanie also held roles in both the provincial and national organizations advocating for students." Ye-Mowe was also heavily involved in student life in the Faculty of Environment.

Memorial organizers are inviting students, staff, faculty and alumni to pay their respects throughout the day at this drop-in event. The event will feature introductory and closing remarks made by Stephanie’s friends at least one volunteer in the space at all times to support attendees. The memorial will provide a quiet space for reflection and an opportunity for community members to leave small gifts or to write any reflections or parting notes in a notebook that will be shared with Stephanie’s family and friends.
