Students pitch in on project to help flatten the curve

Several software engineering students at the University of Waterloo are volunteering with a student-run, data-gathering platform to track and monitor COVID-19 outbreaks in Canada.

Flatten.ca, which has drawn national media coverage, involves students from Waterloo, the University of Toronto, McMaster University and the University of New Brunswick.

“We just wanted to put our technical skills to good use during this time,” said Yifei Zhang, a second-year Waterloo software engineering student in charge of website development. “It’s been great working together with everybody trying to build a platform that will be useful for Canadians across the country.”
