DIESEL Summer Research Collections

Things are busy in the lab this summer! DIESEL trainee research collections are in full swing, and we are looking for participants! Dan Fournier is studying smart watch use while performing typical rotator cuff rehabilitation exercises, while Bhillie Luciani is hoping to finish up her MSc thesis collection focusing on pectoralis muscle fatigue in university-aged males.

Jackie Maciukiewicz is looking for breast cancer survivors who have completed START-FIT (a part of UW Fitness' Well-Fit programming) who are going to continue on into STAY-FIT in addition to completing two lab sessions looking at activities of daily living. Tea Lulic is also planning to do research on breast cancer survivors for her PhD thesis studies, but first is looking to complete initial research into the different regions of the pectoralis major in males and females.

If that wasn't keeping us busy enough, one of our post-doctoral students Talia Alenabi is recruiting older adults for her research involving the creation of a scoring tool to screen for silent forms of rotator cuff pathologies.

Summer Conference Attendance

Several DIESEL trainees will be attending a major biomechanics conference later this summer in Calgary, Alberta! The International Society of Biomechanics is holding their 27th congress in conjunction with the 43rd annual meeting of the American Society of Biomechanics. Our students will be representing DIESEL with multiple posters and podium presentations over the course of the week at ISB/ASB 2019. Look for more updates on Twitter and our News section closer to the start of the conference on July 31st!

We hope everyone has a productive summer in the lab, and a happy and safe time on their summer vacations!
