Overview
This fifth annual engineering teaching event was held on October 31, 2017 and included two parts:
- A talk by Robert Danisch, Associate Professor and Chair, Department of Drama and Speech Communication (Part 1), and
- A question and answer session with a panel of Engineering faculty members (Part 2).
The topic for this session was suggested by Engineering's Teaching Development Committee (AKA teaching champions). The purpose of the session was to highlight the role that communication studies principles might play in improving student engagement and to hear from experienced Engineering faculty members how they apply these principles in their classroom teaching. The 3 panelists were Maud Gorbet of Systems Design Engineering, Mark Pritzker of Chemical Engineering, and Dan Davison of Electrical and Computer Engineering; Marc Hurwitz served as the panel moderator.
The session was recorded by Media Production at ITMS, and links to the recordings (Part 1 and Part 2) can be found below, along with a link to the enhanced transcript prepared by Kathy Becker.
