The Department of Recreation and Leisure Studies is proud to present the Shaw-Mannell Leisure Research Award Lecture featuring 2024 recipient, Dr. Ana Maria Munar.
The award recognizes international career contributions to the study of leisure, broadly defined, and influence on leisure scholarship at the University of Waterloo. The award is named in honour of retired faculty members Sue Shaw and Roger Mannell to recognize their outstanding individual career achievements.

The 16th annual University of Waterloo Teaching and Learning Conference taking place on May 1 with a day of online workshops taking place on April 30. Last year saw over 550 faculty members, staff, and students gather to learn from and with one another around the theme of student engagement.

Jordan MacDonald (she/her) is an interdisciplinary artist from the unceded territories of the Syilx peoples (Okanagan Valley, British Columbia). She received her BFA in Studio Art from the University of British Columbia in 2023 and is currently an MFA candidate at the University of Waterloo, where she is a recipient of the prestigious Shantz International Research Scholarship.
Cree Tylee is an interdisciplinary artist exploring themes of presence and absence investigated through the family archive. "In any way I can" explores the home as a site of memory, investigating loss and identity through material and spatial remembering. Drawing from a personal family archive, the work considers absence and presence, constructing a material dialogue between ‘then’ and ‘now’.
