In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx.

TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxUW, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxUW, TED Talks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.

Our theme this year is 2020 Vision.

FASS (Faculty Alumni Staff and Student) Theatre Company presents "FASS-O-VISION"! This year's show will be virtually hosted with a mixture of live acting and pre-recorded scenes. In the Decolonizing Methodologies for Sustainability Research Speaker Series, researchers from across Canada and the globe share their unique approaches to decolonizing research, and how they conduct research that is inclusive, mindful of local cultural practices, and sensitive to diverse research contexts.

The Concept $5K pitch competition offers the opportunity for University of Waterloo student led teams with innovative solutions and high potential business ideas to showcase their hard work and compete for grant funding. Participants receive valuable feedback, pitching experience, and idea validation from a network of experienced entrepreneurs and Concept Coaches.

In this session, Matt Neill, Product Designer at Faire, will discuss how to utilize design thinking to start your project off on the right foot. By the end of the session, you will learn how to translate user insights into actionable steps that solve problems for your customers.

Personal finance is all about how you manage your money. Learn from Madi Fuller of Wealthsimple about being smart with your savings, creating a budget, investing, and more! This session is for those saving up to start a business or anyone who wants to improve their financial literacy.

From day to day, you might fill the role of a student, parent, caregiver, or one of many other roles. Regardless of the one (or many!) you play, we all face the challenge of keeping well.

In this workshop, you will learn strategies for managing stress, burnout and improving your mental and physical health. Join Naturopathic Doctor Whitney Baxter (BSc ’10) and Physiotherapist Surabhi Veitch (BSc ’09) as they share actionable strategies related to movement, nutrition and breath work.

This event is being hosted in celebration of International Women’s Day.

This academic conference and community education event will offer stories and analyses of encounters and relationships between Indigenous peoples and Mennonite settlers from point of contact through to the present.
