The goal of the Truth & Reconciliation presentation is about raising awareness of the tragic history of the residential school system. It examines the history and policies that lead to the creation of the Residential Schools, their legacies, how they have impacted Indigenous people, and why truth and reconciliation is important.

IQC Alum Lecture Series: Corey Rae McRae

Join alum Corey Rae McRae, PhD ’18, as she shares her career journey and talks about current research.

Corey Rae McRae is the director of the Boulder Cryogenic Quantum Testbed, as well as a research associate at the University of Colorado Boulder and NIST Boulder. Her research focuses on materials and metrology for superconducting quantum computing. McRae grew up in London, ON, and received her PhD from IQC in
2018 from Matteo Mariantoni's group. She credits her research success to cold calling and not being afraid to get in over her head.

Noon Hour Concert: Music of South India (online)

Trichy Sankaran

This concert will feature world-renowned musician and scholar Trichy Sankaran, along with Suba Sankaran and Dylan Bell - well renowned musicians in their own right who have appeared at Grebel before with Autorickshaw.

Indian classical music is the art music of the Indian subcontinent. The origins of this music can be found in the Vedas, which are the oldest scriptures in the Hindu tradition dating back to 1500 BCE. The salient elements of Indian classical music are raga (melody) and tala (rhythm) as well as solkattu (south Indian rhythmic solfege language, not dissimilar to western beatboxing or vocal percussion). Today’s concert features improvised solos, traditional classical compositions and contemporary original works.
