Borrowing from the title of Leo Tolstoy’s historical chronicle of the Napoleonic Wars and the 1812 invasion of Russia, Sadko Hadžihasanović’s War and Piece is a similarly fragmented view of his homeland in the wake of war. 

Ever wonder what it’s like inside a Black Hole? Well, you can find out…sort of. The Black Hole Experience by Age of Union is a mobile immersive exhibition premiering in Waterloo Park for the city’s annual Lumen festival on September 21.

"In The Mix" is an interdisciplinary exhibition that explores music of the Black diaspora. Through a site-specific, interactive installation that combines sound, music, collage, personal family photographs and archives, disc-jockeying, and experimental turntablism, representations of Black identity are explored and reimagined.

"Becoming the Poem" is an installation of landscape paintings that consider my relationship to nature and how to foster hope living in an ecological crisis.

The students in the Knowledge Integration program invite you to experience the culmination of our third-year design project: The Museum Course. Working in teams to produce these exhibits has been a rewarding and unique experience. In building our exhibits, we have moved beyond the traditional projects and assignments typical of an undergraduate experience. The creation process allowed us to be self-directed and enabled us to incorporate skills from many different disciplines. The result is an exhibition that showcases our knowledge of museums and their design methods, as well as our teamwork and dedication to something that is a little out-of-the-box.
 

The Department of Fine Arts invites you to the opening reception for the 50th senior undergraduate exhibition at the University of Waterloo. Hosted by the University of Waterloo Art Gallery, the exhibition captures the students’ creativity and the diversity of practices they have been exposed to in the studio arts program.

The Summit is an interactive exhibition that gives our Global Engagement students the unique opportunity to share their research projects on this year’s theme, “Energy at a Crossroads.”
