Join the Sustainability Office for a lunch & learn with the Region of Waterloo Waste Management team to learn more about the switch to cart-based collection.

In March 2026, the Region of Waterloo will be changing to cart-based collection for garbage and organics. Currently, most of the collection is done manually, by lifting waste materials and placing them into the collection trucks. By switching to cart-based collection, the region will improve worker safety and operational efficiency and cut down on waste collection day litter. Come learn about the switch to carts, see the carts in person, and ask Region of Waterloo staff all your cart-related questions!
