Love Data Week | Voices Behind the Screen: Navigating Data Collected from Online Forums
Online forums are rich sources of public data, offering insights into diverse topics and communities. However, this data often comes with anonymity, raising unique challenges and ethical concerns. This panel discussion will explore the complexities of using forum data for research and analysis: What are the benefits of studying anonymous versus non-anonymous online discussions? How do we address issues of privacy, representation and authenticity? Panelists will discuss case studies, policies and best practices for leveraging these digital conversations.

Love Data Week | Learn to Make Your Own Spotify Wrapped
Did you get a Spotify wrapped at the end of 2024? What kinds of data make that possible? Could you make a better wrapped by analyzing your own data? How about other platforms like Netflix, TikTok and others? In this online workshop, attendees will learn how different platforms and apps collect data about their users, how it can be requested and what you can learn about yourself by analyzing your data.

Mean Girl Feminism: Book Talk and Sharing Circle
What is “mean girl feminism” and how does it impact collective struggles for gender equity? Learn how to identify, avoid, and resist tactics that marginalize womxn of colour under the guise of feminism – at UW and beyond.
In the first half of this virtual event, philosophy PhD Candidate Maddy Kenyon will interview Dr. Kim Hong Nguyen, author of Mean Girl Feminism and former W3+ Faculty Representative. In the second half, Kenyon and W3+ reps will facilitate an informal sharing circle in which we can share stories, experiences, and ideas for intersectional gender equity at UW.
Please note that you do not have to have read Nguyen’s book to attend this event or participate.
Your Inner Saboteurs: What They Are And How To Manage Them
Saboteurs are the thinking habits that generate negative emotions within us as we handle life’s everyday challenges. We all have them. They sabotage our performance, well-being and relationships every day. This session digs into the fascinating neuroscience, psychology and presentation of saboteurs.
