Helena Shilomboleni

Helena Shilomboleni completed her PhD in the School of Environment, Resources and Sustainability (SERS) at the University of Waterloo in 2017.

Helena's primary area of research is food security and food systems sustainability. Her dissertation: The African Green Revolution and the Food Sovereignty Movement: Contributions to Food Security and Sustainability A Case-study of Mozambique examines how the African Green Revolution and the African food sovereignty movement each contribute to sustainability in their respective approaches to food security in the context of Southern Africa. She conducted fieldwork in Mozambique in 2014 and 2015 with two organizations, the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) and the National Union of Mozambican Peasants (UNAC). She has a MA in Global Governance from the Balsillie School of International Affiairs.
