Haoran Xu
Haoran is an undergraduate student majoring in Human Geography and Urban-rural Planning in Beijing Normal University, China. He comes to University of Waterloo to work with N-ZAP research team as a Mitacs Globalink Research Intern. He is interested in geographical and environmental studies pertinent to smart cities, climate policy and sustainable studies.
Having grown up in a small-sized city of Central China and lived in Beijing for three years, Haoran possesses a unique perspective to approach different things. He had previously been to Qinghai-Tibet Plateau to distribute questionnaires about tourists’ travel satisfaction. He had also been to Chinese rural villages to promote equal quality education. He is always on the way to exploring new possibilities and innovating new ideas.
In the research team, Haoran focuses on developing database of advance standardized measurement systems and indicators in municipality documents. He also engages in survey management and further doing interviews with government officials to collect data.
