As the co-founder of the I/O technology start-up, Plum.io, Neil puts to practice empirically derived principles of I/O psychology. Specifically, since it’s beginnings in 2012, Plum has quickly emerged as a leader in talent management by using psychometric assessment to improve HR decisions. Plum powers over 120 companies including global brands like Bloomberg, Intact, SAP and Scotiabank. Plum also has partnered with the University of Waterloo connecting 21,000 co-op students with 7000 employers. Neil’s story demonstrates that a variety of educational pathways can lead to a fruitful I/O career.

Prior to SPB, Pylin was a data wrangler who spent her days taming unruly numbers into insights as the Manager, OD Research & Advisory at Rogers and Director of Data & Analytics for the Rogers Women’s Network. Pylin has also conducted workforce research at the RCMP and worked for various Fortune Global 500’s top 100 companies. She received her MA and PhD in IO Psychology from the University of Waterloo.
Lynn Imai, PhD

Lynn is a recognized expert on societal cultures and their impact on human behaviours in a variety of workplace contexts including negotiations, conflict management, motivation & performance management, and ethics. Her research has appeared in top-tier academic journals and various media outlets. At Ivey, she runs the Ivey Global Lab, an international practicum that sends Masters students to developing economies to gain emerging market consulting skills. Lynn is also a career counsellor, a coach, and a consultant at Canada Career Counselling, a private practice. Lynn obtained her M.A. and Ph.D. in I/O Psychology from the University of Maryland.
Canaan Legault, MA

Canaan received his MA in I/O Psychology from the University of Waterloo and his Hon. BA in Psychology from the University of Western Ontario. During his academic career, he managed consulting projects within a student group and worked as a Social Sciences Research Analyst for HRSG. Since graduating, he has applied his degree by working as a Market Researcher for Voices.com and as a Market Intelligence Analyst for AgData. Through these roles he has supplemented his knowledge with experience in marketing and user experience research. Canaan is now looking for new opportunities and is eager to share his journey as a recent grad on the job market.
