Deborah Powell, PhD
Associate Professor, University of Guelph
After completing her BA (hons) at Queen’s University, Dr. Powell received both her MA and PhD in I/O psychology from the University of Western Ontario. Her research interests are centered around personnel selection, with an emphasis on finding fair and valid methods for hiring the best employees. She is also interested in the effects of interview anxiety and impression management on interview performance.
James Beck, PhD
Associate Professor, University of Waterloo
Dr. Beck’s research interests include motivational and self-regulatory processes. He is interested in the way individuals allocate finite resources such as time, effort, and attention, across multiple, competing demands. To this end, Dr. Beck has published articled in prestigious journals such as the Journal of Applied Psychology and the Journal of Management.
He received his MA from the University of Akron and his PhD from the University of Minnesota.
Brent Lyons, PhD
Assistant Professor, Schulich School of Business, York University
Dr. Lyons is the York Research Chair in Stigmatization and Social Identity and an Assistant Professor of Organization Studies at the Schulich School of Business. His research involves the study of stigma in organizations and how individuals with stigmatized social identities, such as disability, navigate their work and interpersonal relationships to reduce consequences of stigmatization. Prior to joining York University, Dr. Lyons was an Assistant Professor of Management and Organization Studies at Simon Fraser University. He received his PhD in Organizational Psychology at Michigan State University in 2013.
