Strategic plan consultation - internationalization issue paper

This consultation session is open to all members of the University of Waterloo. The strategic plan consultations will gather input and feedback on what we need to achieve by 2025 and what success looks like.

Are you speaking the same language? Language skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) are important for communicating with others, but effective communication requires more than just speaking the same language, it requires a fifth skill – cultural understanding.

Students are looking at a future that will present problems that require global solutions that come from intercultural teams. Educational institutions across Canada are aspiring to graduate students who are equipped to navigate a rapidly-evolving global landscape that positions them well towards identifying and solving these global problems. Students from international backgrounds enrich our campuses with their diverse cultures, ideas, values and traditions. As part of the international education community, we interact with organizations globally.

Learn how to cook an international dish from the comfort of your own home with Renison’s Chef, Tim Farley, who will be teaching you how to make fresh shrimp rolls with vegetables and rice noodles served with a traditional Vietnamese dipping sauce.
