Waterloo International is pleased to announce that Tamara Zur joins the team as Associate Director, International Operations for a one-year secondment.
Tamara joins Waterloo International from the Inclusive Research team in the Office of the Vice President, Research and International at Waterloo, where she led a team of professionals working to support researchers in embedding equitable and inclusive practices into their research design, process, and leadership. She also spent time working in the Equity Office developing the institutional equity data strategy. Tamara teaches in the Masters of Public Service program at Waterloo.
Prior to joining Waterloo, Tamara worked in the Ontario Public Service for 10 years, where she gained in-depth experience with public administration, policy decision-making, strategic planning, communications, and human-centred design. Tamara held roles across a number of Ministries, including having worked in the Deputy Minister’s Office at ServiceOntario, in the Office of International Relations and Protocol of the Cabinet Office, and as the West Region Advisor of the Ontario Leadership Network.
Tamara’s career began at the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) and the Canadian International Council (CIC), where she developed practical knowledge and hands-on experience working in international relations, building on her MA in Transnational Communications and Global Media from Goldsmith’s College, University of London, UK. Tamara also holds a BA in Media, Information and Technoculture from Western University and spent time studying abroad at Stockholm University.
As the Associate Director, International Operations, Tamara leads the International Agreements, Safety Abroad, International Opportunities, Communications, and Administration teams, providing leadership and coordination to many internationalization efforts across the institution.
