Collaboration between the University of Waterloo (UW) and the University of the West Indies (The UWI) dates back to 2006, when the two institutions first signed an Engineering research partnership with Wigton Wind Farm Ltd. Since then, we have come a long way. Over the past 16 years, our researchers have engaged on important projects together. Our first Student Mobility Agreement was signed in 2010, and has been consistently renewed since then.
On May 5, leaders from the two institutions met virtually for a symbolic signing ceremony to celebrate the renewal of the Student Mobility Agreement which has paved the path to exchange opportunities including terms abroad for many students. The celebration included reflections of both signatories: Professor Charmaine Dean, Vice-President, Research and International representing the University of Waterloo, and Dr Stacy Richards-Kennedy, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Global Affairs representing the University of the West Indies. The event was aired on a regional broadcast by the UWITV channel, in addition to a published recording and media release by The UWI University Marketing and Communications Office.
“The University of Waterloo is excited to work with international partners that offer opportunities for multifaceted relationships, which can grow over time and advance broad institutional goals. For us, the University of the West Indies is one such partner, and we look forward to deepening our strategic relationship as we explore more meaningful collaborations in the years to come”For anyone who has any questions or comments about Waterloo's engagement with UWI, please contact Ishari Waduwara-Jayabahu, International Relations Manager, Waterloo International, at international.relations@uwaterloo.ca
