ISOLDE XII
ISOLDE XII was held in Nagoya and Kyoto, Japan from July 19 through 24, 2012 organized by Atsuo Suzuki.
The ISOLDE XII had been postponed for one year due to the catastrophic earthquake and tsunami disaster which took place in Japan in 2011. This meeting was the first ISOLDE meeting outside Europe and North America.
The first three days of the meeting, was held in Nagoya, the central city of the Chubu region. Nagoya is located at the center of Honshu (the main island of Japan) and a base of important industries. The hosting institution is NANZAN University, which was founded by the Divine Word Missionaries and is one of the most prestigious universities in the Chubu region. Sessions were held at Nagoya Campus which is located in the rolling hills overlooking metropolitan Nagoya city.
After short tour, the second part of conference was held in Kyoto, which is an old capital of Japan established more than 1,000 years ago and is declared a World Heritage site. There are lots of historical temples, shrines and housings. The sessions took place at the Hotel Granvia Kyoto, which is located next to Kyoto Station.
