The Study Background:

The teenage years are a key stage for development, emphasizing the need for adequate nutrient intake. Long-chain omega-3 fatty acids support heart and brain health, but most Canadian teens are likely not getting enough to receive these health benefits!

Currently, blood omega-3 levels in teenagers across different dietary patterns are not available. So this study aims to characterize the nutrient status of blood omega-3 levels while also comparing different diet and health patterns.

Eligible participants will be invited to visit our lab for a fasted finger-prick blood sample and complete a brief diet and wellness survey. Within two weeks of the lab visit, participants will be asked to complete multiple 24-hour dietary recalls.
