Spotlight: Resource Sharing

Have you heard the term “resource sharing”? It’s an important term in a library context as it gets to the heart of what libraries do: provide easy access to information.

The Library is delighted to spotlight this year’s Sharon Lamont Student Award winners, Zoya Randhawa and Claire Reynolds. This is the second year the award is being given out to two students who have worked at the Library and have, through extracurricular involvement, supported equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives.

Starting this month, the student engagement and communications assistant co-op student is interviewing a library staff member to provide library patrons with a peek behind the book stacks at all the work that happens to provide the variety of services and resources that support the learning, research and innovation that happens at Waterloo.

Library Town Hall reflections

The Library hosted a Town Hall on March 28 to share updates and projects that reflect progress towards our 2020-2025 strategic plan. James Rush, vice-president, academic & provost and Charmaine Dean, vice-president, research and international opened with remarks on the place of the Library within the campus community followed by Beth Namachchivaya, university librarian, who shared stories and activities included in the Library’s 2022 Annual Report and answered questions from the audience.

Special Collections & Archives (SCA) at the University of Waterloo Library has launched an Oral History Hub on the Waterloo Digital Library, providing access to interview recordings, including transcripts, that actively document Waterloo’s history through the lived experiences of our staff, faculty and students.
