Priorities and Principles

The following principles and priorities will help guide our decision-making as we undertake a review of our collections and services:

Strategic priorities for FY25 – FY28

Our commitment to empowering students and researchers by providing access to information, tools and expertise vital to their success remains our focus. As we undertake a review of library collections and services, these core priorities will guide us:

  1. Research and support services, including Open Science and collections
  2. Strategic library space planning
  3. Literacy, access and inclusivity: instruction and initiatives to support student learning and information discovery
  4. Organizational transformation and advancement

Planning principles

  1. Effectively communicate information to library staff and users about the review process and any resulting changes to resources and services
  2. Prioritize activities to ensure we are effectively and efficiently advancing our strategic goals in alignment with the University’s strategic direction
  3. Leverage the expertise of library staff to minimize reductions and impacts to services
  4. Consider the needs of library users, both now and into the future, as we identify transformational opportunities and prioritize activities
  5. Focus on where we have agency, not on the things we can’t control, and make data-informed decisions
