Earlier in July, the Library was fortunate to host Barina Utkan, the Open Access and Institutional Archive, Head, from Middle East Technical University Library in Ankara, Turkey. With a background in mathematics, digitization and archives, Utkan was excited to learn more about open access, research data management and digital scholarship during her visit.

The Library is continually adding to its collections to provide Waterloo scholars and researchers with the resources they need to meet their goals. With support from generous donors, we’re able to purchase new resources across a variety of subject areas and diverse voices, responding to direct requests from our users, usage statistics and emerging subjects of interest.

The hate-motivated attack that took place on our campus last week has shaken many of us. To reiterate President Goel’s message, gender-based violence has no place at the University of Waterloo, or anywhere. Each year the University of Waterloo bestows a small number of honorary doctorates, distinguished professor emeritus designations, as well as honorary memberships to the University. Honorary memberships are the highest honour a staff member can receive and are granted on retirement in recognition of individual outstanding service to the University as a whole.
