Research Assistant, Laboratory Technician
Alex (She/They) is the laboratory technician for the Duncan lab. She performs independent experiments, assists graduate students in performing their experiments, and supports Dr. Robin Duncan with the administration and organization of the Lipid Enzyme Discovery Lab.
In their MSc thesis, Alex's research aimed to characterize the brains of mice lacking the gene for a unique phospholipid-metabolizing enzyme (Plaat1). Utilizing a variety of molecular and behavioural techniques, Alex demonstrated sex-specific mitochondrial differences and possible behavioural abnormalities in mice with Plaat1-deletion.
