PhD Candidate
Dane Mauer-Vakil is a second year PhD student in Public Health Sciences at the University of Waterloo in the health evaluation specialization conducting applied research in mental health systems and policies. His academic background is in health psychology (Bachelor of Kinesiology) and health policy (Master of Science in Health Services Research). Dane’s current research focuses include contraband tobacco and vaping products, poverty reduction interventions in primary care, publicly funded psychotherapy services, and cannabis policy in the Canadian context. His doctoral dissertation focuses on developing, implementing, and evaluating mental health care quality indicators for youth with bipolar disorder in Ontario.
