Christopher Perlman, PhD
Dr. Christopher (Chris) Perlman has been a Faculty member of the School of Public Health Sciences at the University of Waterloo since 2012, but has a long history at the University of Waterloo dating back to 2002. He completed his MSc and PhD in Health Studies and Gerontology at the University of Waterloo and his BSc in Psychology at Trent University. Prior to joining UW Dr. Perlman was the Associate Director of Research at the Homewood Research Institute. Dr. Perlman is a health services and policy researcher focused on improving health services for vulnerable persons, including those with mental health conditions, addictions, and older adults. He is a Fellow of interRAI, a 36 country research collaborative that designs assessment systems and data applications for supporting health system decision making, funding, and evaluation. In addition to research and graduate student mentoring, Dr. Perlman teach courses on health policy, mental health systems and policy, quantitative methods, and health systems. Outside of work he loves going on adventures with his family, playing a variety of sports, particularly golf, volleyball, and basketball, and collecting music and concert experiences.
