The new streamlined Chat and Channels experience
Before this rollout, there were separate Chat and Teams views (apps) with no option to unify these views; custom sections of chats and channels were not possible; and there was no view for collecting all personal mentions in one list across chats and channels.
The new experience brings chat, teams, and channels into one place, in Chat, so you can easily navigate between all conversations without switching between contexts. You start in the combined Chat view but can opt to keep chat separate from teams and channels like before.
In the Chat view, you will see these sections (in order):
-
Favorites containing any previously pinned chats and channels
-
Chats sorted by most recent
-
Teams and channels, organized in same order as in the Teams view
Also, you can create custom sections to organize projects and topics that can include individual, group, and meeting chats, as well as channels.
New filters for Unread, Chat, Channels, Meetings and more help you focus on relevant conversation in your list. Filters persist until turned off.
The new @mention view gathers all personal @mentions into one interactive list. You can quickly access messages with @mentions across chats, channels, and meetings.
This change applies to Teams on Windows desktops, Mac desktops, the web, and iOS and Android devices.

Add multiple emoji reactions to each chat or channel message
You can now add up to 20 emoji reactions to a single message. You will now find a new More reactions button where the user can select and add additional emojis.
This change applies to Teams on Windows desktops, Mac desktops, the web, and iOS and Android devices.
Choose a breakout room from a list
Microsoft Teams meeting organizers can make the list of breakout rooms visible to all meeting participants and allow them to choose which room to join. Enabling this setting in breakout rooms allows participants to move freely from one room to another, simplifying breakout room coordination for meeting organizers and participants.
This change applies to Teams for Windows, Mac, and the web.

Presenter window enhancements while screensharing
Teams has enchanced the presenter window that is shown while screensharing.
The presenter window now shows up to four meeting participants (both video and audio), active speakers, raised hands and reactions, and a preview of shared content.
Meeting notifications are surfaced to the central area of the screen for easier awareness and consistent windowing behavior. These enhancements improve awareness and visibility of what's going on in your meeting and make it easier to engage with other attendees while screensharing.
