Waterloo, Ont. (Friday, August 3, 2012) - The University of Waterloo today announced that TechTown, a 60,000 sq. ft. building located in the David Johnston Research + Technology Park, has been donated to the university.

TechTown is a multi-tenant professional services building which opened in January, 2007 on the north campus. The building provides services to the employees in the Park, the University of Waterloo and the local community including everything from health and wellness services to childcare. Services and amenities at TechTown will continue uninterrupted.

WATERLOO, Ont. (Tuesday, July 24, 2012) - The University of Waterloo has appointed to its Board of Governors a respected leader with a passion for community involvement and nurturing emerging technology talent.

Jordan Banks is the managing director of Facebook Canada, and responsible for leading all of its commercial operations. Previously, he provided investment and advisory services to early stage technology companies as founder and managing partner at Thunder Road Capital as well as serving as chief executive officer of JumpTV.

University of Waterloo Police Services, assisted by Waterloo Regional Police, investigated and charged former University of Waterloo employee Jacqueline Hollmann with one count of theft over $5,000 and one count of fraud over $5,000, involving a total amount of approximately $955,000. The charges pertain to this individual’s role supervising the university’s copy centres, which operate as an ancillary business unit within the university providing print and other administrative services on campus.
