For most of my life, I hated exercising and physical activity.
It was never my “thing”. I never felt motivated, I never liked playing sports in gym class and I never enjoyed going to the gym or working out.
A group of exceptionally talented incoming students are making their way to Waterloo with a prestigious scholarship in tow.
Thanks to a $100+ million investment by businessman and philanthropist Seymour Schulich, Waterloo has more than doubled its recipient pool from previous years allowing selected students pursuing STEM to begin their post-secondary careers with an extra $80,000 or $100,000.

When the COVID-19 pandemic first hit, I was concerned about my job security.
The countdown is on.
With classes gearing up as summer winds down, our faculty and staff have been working to provide both incoming and returning students with an engaging Fall Term.
Although most courses will be delivered online, with some small classes and labs taking place in-person, we are prepared to support you wherever you are.
Together, the University of Waterloo’s Science Society, Science departmental clubs and the Psychology Society donated $5,500 to help the local community fight COVID-19. The donation came from unused event funds and was shared amongst three organizations.
The year 2020 has been a trial for people across the globe. For many, this year’s crises have also inspired growth and motivation. When Jackie Lee (BSc ’06), Alan Soong (BASc ’08) and Dr. Brian Li (BASc '09) saw that health care professionals were struggling from a shortage of personal protective equipment (PPE), they created Masks for Covid. The organization combines off-the-shelf, full-face snorkel masks with readily available filters to make a comfortable and cost-effective PPE solution.
