Browser requirements

The OnBase web client is supported for use with the following:

  • Internet Explorer 11

  • Chrome 49+

  • Firefox ESR 45, Firefox 45+

  • Safari 6.2.x, 7.1.x, 8.0.x, 9.0.x, 9.1.x, 10.0.x

Other browsers or versions may or may not work, depending on which features of OnBase you are using.

OnBase version 16 requirements

Operating system

Microsoft Windows 7 SP1 or later, Windows 8.1, Windows 10; Mac OS X version 10.6 or later.

Browser

Scripting and pop-up windows must be enabled in your browser. In addition, within Internet Explorer Trusted Sites should be configured and Compatibility View should be enabled.

Windows users:

Internet Explorer 11 is officially supported by the vendor. Higher versions may or may not work.

Firefox 45 Extended Support Release (ESR) and Firefox 45+ are officially supported by the vendor.

Chrome 49+ is officially supported by the vendor. Other versions may or may not work.

The Edge browser is not officially supported by the vendor for workflow. Otherwise you should be able to use Edge successfully with OnBase.

Mac OS X users:

Firefox 45 Extended Support Release (ESR) and Firefox 45+ are officially supported by the vendor. Higher versions may or may not work.

Chrome 49+ is officially supported by the vendor. Other versions may or may not work.

Apple Safari 6.2.x, 7.1.x, 8.0.x, 9.0.x, 9.1.x and 10.0.x are officially supported by the vendor. Other versions may or may not work.

IE Configuration

Configuring trusted sites

  1. Open your browser.
  2. Click on Tools button/icon (it is located in the upper right part of the screen).
  3. Select Internet Options.
  4. Click on Security tab.
  5. Select Trusted sites.
  6. Click on Sites.
  7. Enter https://*.uwaterloo.ca in Add this website to the zone:.
  8. Click Add.
  9. Close and restart the browser.

Enabling compatibility view

  1. Open your browser.
  2. Click on Tools button/icon (it is located in the upper right part of the screen).
  3. Select Compatibility View settings.
  4. Enter https://uwaterloo.ca in Add this website to the zone:.
  5. Click Add.
  6. Ensure that Display intranet sites in Compatibility View is checked.
  7. Close and restart the browser.

Enabling scripting

  1. Open your browser.
  2. Click on Tools button/icon (it is located in the upper right part of the screen).
  3. Select Internet Options.
  4. Click on Security tab.
  5. Click on Custom Level...
  6. Scroll down until you see section labeled Active Scripting.
  7. Select Enable and click OK.
  8. Click OK to save changes.
  9. Confirm Yes and click OK.
  10. Close and restart the browser.

Enabling pop-ups

  1. Open your browser.
  2. Click on Tools button (it is located in the upper right part of the screen).
  3. Select Internet Options.
  4. Click the Privacy tab, and then uncheck the Block pop-ups check box.
  5. Click Apply, and then click OK.
  6. Restart your browser.

Firefox Configuration

Enabling scripting

  1. Go to the Tools menu and select Options (Windows) or go to the Firefox menu and select Preferences (MacOS).
  2. Click the Content tab (at the top of the window).
  3. Under the Content tab, put a checkmark in the box next to Enable JavaScript.
  4. Click the OK button.

Enabling pop-ups

  1. Go to the Tools menu and select Options (Windows) or go to the Firefox menu and select Preferences (MacOS).
  2. Click the Content tab, and then uncheck the Block pop-up Windows check box.
  3. Click OK.
  4. Restart your browser.

Chrome Configuration

Enabling scripting

  1. Go to the right of the address bar and click the icon with 3 stacked horizontal lines (Windows) or go to the Apple/System bar at the top of the screen and select Chrome then select Preferences (Mac OS).
  2. From the drop-down menu select Settings.
  3. At the bottom of the page, click the Show advanced settings... link.
  4. Under the privacy section, click the Content settings... button.
  5. Under the JavaScript heading, select the Allow all sites to run JavaScript radio button.
  6. Restart your browser.

Enabling pop-ups

  1. Go to the right of the address bar and click the icon with 3 stacked horizontal lines (Windows) or go to the Apple/System bar at the top of the screen and select Chrome then select Preferences (Mac OS).
  2. From the drop-down menu select Settings.
  3. At the bottom of the page, click the Show advanced settings... link.
  4. Under the privacy section, click the Content settings... button.
  5. Under the Pop-ups heading, select the Allow all sites to show pop-ups option.
  6. Restart your browser.

Safari Configuration

Enabling scripting

  1. Go to the Edit menu (or settings gear) and select Preferences (Windows) or go to the Safari menu and select Preferences (Mac OS).
  2. Click the Security tab.
  3. Under the Security tab, put a checkmark in the box next to Enable JavaScript.
  4. Close the dialog box to save the changes.
  5. Restart your browser.

Enabling pop-ups
