Partners for Action (P4A) is pleased to share our research, communication, and partnership highlights with the release of our 2016 Annual Report (PDF). Read highlights of our activities from the past year and what’s ahead for Partners for Action in 2017.
2016 Highlights:
- P4A partnered with The Co-operators Group and Farm Mutual Reinsurance Plan to address the increasing impacts of flooding across Canada. Research projects were initiated to understand the current state of flood resiliency in Canada and explore the actions needed to improve flood resiliency.
- P4A released “At the Front Lines of Flood: How Prepared are Ontario Communities?” The report explored 18 Ontario Municipalities, 2 First Nation communities and 15 conservation authorities to determine what is needed to better understand the impacts of flooding on communities and the state of flood resiliency in Ontario.
- P4A worked to establish a diverse team of stakeholders and partnered with 120 organizations creating a team of 160 members to date.
- P4A attended and participated in numerous conferences and workshops to generate awareness of flood resiliency, forge partnerships and share the results of our research on flood resiliency in Ontario.
A Snapshot of What’s Ahead:
Our 2016-2017 projects and programs focus on furthering our goals, including:
- Continue to create and disseminate information that educates Canadians about flood risk and the steps they can take to reduce or eliminate risk.
- Collaborate with governments, insurance industries, researchers, businesses, community members and more to discuss how improvements can be made to flood risk assessment, management and mitigation in Canada.
- Create partnerships to further our reach and improve our ability to improve risk awareness and build resilience to flood risks in Canadian communities.
- Host workshops and webinars involving stakeholders to address which actions are working to improve flood resiliency.
