University of Waterloo Strategic Plan Draft

Thursday, April 18, 2013

Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,

Building on the outstanding feedback that the campus community provided during the Mid-cycle Review and subsequent consultation process, the University of Waterloo Strategic Plan has been completed in draft form, and is now available for your review and comment.

Available for download at the Strategic Plan website, the draft document takes stock of the University of Waterloo’s well-known strengths, and looks at how we can aggressively leverage our existing and emerging strengths to build Waterloo’s global profile and presence.

As you review the draft Strategic Plan, please share any thoughts or comments you may have by emailing strategicplan@uwaterloo.ca by noon on Wednesday, May 1. All emails will be reviewed by the Strategic Plan Working Group, and that group will review all messages and address your comments and questions as may be appropriate. The strategic planning process has been highly consultative in nature, which has been one of the keys to its continuing success, and it’s vital that we sustain that spirit of openness and collaboration now and always.

Soon, you will receive an invitation to attend a Town Hall-style meeting as an additional opportunity to engage in a conversation on the Strategic Plan with Provost Geoff McBoyle and me directly. There will be two sessions scheduled, in the hope that one of those times will be convenient for you to attend.

Thank you for all the time and effort that so many of you have invested into this process, and thank you for your unique and personal contribution to the university’s success.

Sincerely,

Feridun Hamdullahpur                                                               President and Vice-Chancellor                                                   University of Waterloo
