Animals as peers, as persons, as peacebuilders.
In this talk Bechtel considers some of the changes that have developed in human understanding of animal life over the last 20 years. In three circles of increasing particularity he probes the ways humans and animals relate and the lessons that humans can take from animal life. Drawing on insights from geography, theology, and ethology Bechtel develops an ethics of human animal relationship focused on the flourishing of species.
