PhD in Religious Studies
The University of Waterloo PhD program is accepting applications for Fall 2027. The application deadline is February 1, 2027.
If you have any questions about the PhD program, please contact the Religious Studies Area Head at scott.kline@uwaterloo.ca
Drawing on the combined resources of Religion and Culture at Wilfrid Laurier University and Religious, Culture and Spirituality at the University of Waterloo, the joint Laurier-Waterloo PhD in Religion, Culture and Society offers a concentration on the religious diversity of North America.
Due to budgetary constraints, we are limited in our ability to accept students studying on an international study permit.
Please note: Religion, Culture and Spirituality at Uwaterloo only has an undergraduate program and a PhD program. It does not have a Masters (MA) program. For a list of Canadian MA programs in Religious Studies, please see the Masters Portal website.
International students
Due to funding restrictions, the Faculty of Arts is currently limiting the number of international students.
We are not accepting international PhD applications due to current funding constraints. Please reach out to the graduate advisor for further information.
