Bella (An) Chen

Master's student in Computer Science

Chen An (Bella) is a Master's student in the Cheriton School of Computer Science co-supervised by professor Leah Zhang-Kennedy and James Wallace. Her research explores the suitability of VR in the context of telehealth and studies the adaptability, context sensitivity, and the flow of information through the digital medium will reveal nuanced privacy needs, adaptations to technology, and design opportunities to better meet the needs of diverse audiences.

Previously, Bella was a summer exchange student from China participating in the Mitacs Globalink Undergraduate Internship program. She majored in Product Design at Shandong University in China. Her research focused on exploring the various needs of vulnerable groups through interdisciplinary approaches in product design, user experience design, and HCI. She conducted a research project as the project lead at the Industrial Design Institute of Shandong University, which involved EEG neurofeedback for children with ADHD. Additionally, she worked as an intern in the HCI group at Tsinghua University's Institute of Intelligent Industries, where she conducted qualitative research on child emotion regulation issues.
