The prevalence of lost persons living with dementia is increasing. However, few resources exist to provide proactive strategies that minimize the risks associated with getting lost. Existing resources are difficult to find, portray wandering negatively, and tend to limit the autonomy and independence of persons living with dementia. Wandering is often thought of as something that is “aimless”. We might think that only people in the later stage of their dementia journey wander. However, wandering can mean more than that.

This is a web-based interactive tool of the Canadian Guideline for Safe Wandering for use by persons living with dementia and their care partners.
