Mark Seasons is an urban planner with extensive community and policy planning experience. He joined the University of Waterloo’s School of Planning in 1998, following many years as a practicing planner at the local, provincial and federal government level in Ontario, Alberta and New Zealand. He is a professor with the School of Planning. Mark has also held senior administrative roles including interim dean and associate dean (undergraduate studies) for the Faculty of Environment at the University of Waterloo.
Mark has a PhD (Regional Planning) from the University of Waterloo and a Master of Environmental Design (Planning) degree from the University of Calgary. He is a past president and Fellow, Canadian Institute of Planners, and he is a registered professional planner (RPP) in Ontario.
Mark’s research interests include the school closure issue generally, with a specific focus on decision-making processes that culminate in the permanent closure of a school. He has also worked in the areas of strategic planning, downtown revitalization, mid-size city planning, and plan/program evaluation.
