Cooking Social

We are excited to host a free online Cooking Social event Wednesday May 25th from 5:30-6:30pm. Adèle Corkum will lead attendees through a live demonstration on how to make crispy roasted chickpeas. Come join us to learn some new cooking skills and participate in fun games!!

Adèle Corkum is a Registered Dietitian in Nova Scotia and current student in UW's MSc Public Health and Health Systems program. She is passionate about improving access to healthy, safe, affordable, and culturally appropriate food for all, especially those unfairly affected by the social determinants of health. 

Join us Thursday, June 9th from 1-3 pm ET for our special workshop hosted by Melissa ZettelThis workshop recognizes that the COVID-19 pandemic had and continues to have an ongoing impact on our moods, thoughts, and behaviours. This workshop will provide information around the impact on our nervous system, space to reflect on both growth and challenges of the last year and orient yourself to the on-going changes of this pandemic. The goal is to facilitate meaningful conversations around what works best for you when re-entering your world.

Melissa Zettel (She/Her) is one of the Embedded Wellness Co-op Counsellors. Melissa is a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers. Melissa holds a Bachelor of Arts from Wilfrid Laurier University, and a Bachelor of Social Work from Lakehead University. She completed her Master of Social Work at University of Waterloo.

September Monthly Peer Mentorship

Welcome to a new year of peer mentorship! We are excited to welcome you to the program this year. The first session will introduce exciting developments for the 2022-2023 school year and will be a chance for students to connect and learn more about the program. Art in Health

Join us at "Art in Health" to explore different artistic techniques in a relaxed and supportive environment. This event will provide students with an opportunity to learn how to sketch using different art techniques, such as “contouring”, which involves sketching the outline of an object. The goal is to facilitate a creative process that allows students to self-explore and de-stress while learning a new art technique.

October Lunch & Learn

We are excited to invite our first professional speaker, Sara Husain (MBBS, MSc, MHE, PMP) from the Public Health Agency of Canada for our October Lunch & Learn event.This event will provide students with an opportunity to learn about career paths in public health. Sara can answer questions about how to balance being a part time student while working full time, transitioning from a provincial health position to a federal health position, how to get involved in the Canadian Health Evaluation Society as a student, and more.
