The Science Museum and Galleries is located in the Science Teaching Complex (STC) on the main University of Waterloo campus.
Hours
The exhibits can be viewed anytime. Drop in and explore the museum at your own pace. There are also exhibits in Biology 1 (B1) and Biology 2 (B2) as well as the Quantum Nano Centre (QNC).

By public transit
If taking the ION, get off at the University of Waterloo stop. Walk along Ring Rd until you reach the Science Teaching Complex (STC). If travelling by bus, get off at the Science Teaching Complex (STC). The museum exhibits are inside the building on the first floor and in the basement.
Science Teaching Complex, UW campus
By car (AMP Mobile effective January 20, 2025)
If visiting the campus by car, the closest visitor parking is available in lot C and Q. Once parked, cross over University Ave and proceed through the centre of campus to the museum.
Accessible parking is located south of STC beside the Dana Porter Library. Note that a parking pass is required to park in an accessible space.
Parking is $7.25 for the day (does not apply to accessible parking). Purchased through AMP mobile pay app.
You can either download the AMP app through Apple’s App Store or the Google Play Store on your phone, or register through the AMP app website. Payment can be done using a credit card via secure online transaction.
- Download the AMP Park App on your phone's app store by searching "AMP Park" or by scanning the QR code on parking signs
- Using the Menu screen (three parallel lines), Login/Create an account with a unique password (note: you do not need to create an account)
- Find your Location on the map and click the yellow map marker
- Select the Amount of time you wish to park for (minimum 1 hour) - cost will show "pre tax" value of parking
- Add a new vehicle or choose your vehicle
- Add your license plate - please ensure you are accurate with this step as your parking will only be valid if your license plate is correct
- Select Continue to go to checkout and fill out your credit card information. Choose to save your credit card for easy extensions and future purchases.
- Select Purchase to finalize your parking payment
- Your app will show you the current remaining time and provide an option to extend your parking time.
