SWIGS and the Writing Center at the University of Waterloo

Are you struggling with writing from home? Would you like to join a group of like-minded graduate students who have similar writing goals?  SWIGS is excited to partner with the UW Writing and Communication Center to host a weekly virtual writing cafe on Thursdays 3:00 – 5:00pm EST.

Registration: Please register in the following link and select ‘SWIGS’ as your #WaterlooWrites group

After registering, you will obtain a code to join the #WaterlooWrites general channel in MS Teams. WCC will sort students into the proper writing channels. Once you have been added to the ‘SWIGS’ writing channel you will receive weekly notifications to join our writing sessions!

Feel free to reach out to Lauren (l2banks@uwaterloo.ca) or Narasimman (nlakshmi@uwaterloo.ca) if you have any questions!

Our writing group is open to all water-related graduate students at the University of Waterloo. During our writing sessions, you can expect a small introduction to different writing tips followed by three 30- minute pomodoro sessions (with breaks in between). Please feel free to choose the level of participation you would like (camera on or off, whichever you please). For extra incentive, the WCC is offering a #WaterlooWrites coffee mug to people who participate in 12 writing sessions! Each time you show up online and write with ‘SWIGS’, you’ll obtain a “stamp” which will contribute to earning a free mug that represents your dedication and hard work!
