About the SouthWestern Ontario Research Data Centre

The SouthWestern Ontario Research Data Centre (SWORDC) became a University of Waterloo Senate-approved centre with a formalized governance structure in 2009. SWORDC has a management committee and a regional coordinating committee.

Staffing at SWORDC consists of a full-time Statistics Canada Data Analyst located at the University of Waterloo and one casual statistical assistant to provide coverage. In addition, there are two part-time statistical assistants working out of the BRDC Guelph Branch. SWORDC receives technical support through Arts Computing Office at UWaterloo and the Computing and Communication Services at the University of Guelph.

Twenty-seven disciplines or specialties from the three universities are currently represented at SWORDC and BRDC. Researchers from Economics (50%), Health (25%), and Sociology (18%) from UWaterloo, Wilfrid Laurier University and the University of Guelph make up the majority of users of our resources.
