The SouthWestern Ontario Research Data Centre welcomes Mark Tremblay, Director, Healthy Active Living and Obesity Research Group (HALO), CHEO Research Institute, and Professor/Scientist, Department of Pediatrics, University of Ottawa, for a talk on the Canadian health measures survey.
In this presentation Professor Tremblay will describe his experience being hired as the inaugural Scientific Director and Principal Investigator of the Canadian Health Measures Survey (CHMS). An overview of the survey development, including periodic explanations of the peculiar challenges of creating a direct health measures survey within a national statistical agency, will be provided. A description of the deliberate, advance analytical planning will also be presented. A survey of portions of the >60 papers Professor Tremblay has authored or coauthored using or informing the CHMS will be presented leading to examples of how those papers, at least in part, impacted policy.
