With another exam season upon us, the Student Success Office (SSO) would like to remind you of some helpful resources to support students who are struggling or who want to start working ahead to plan for next term.
There's lots to look forward to from the Student Success Office (SSO) this spring term. We hope you'll share these resources with the students you support or connect with us to learn more about our work.
On March 22, the Student Success Office (SSO), Waterloo Undergraduate Student Assocation (WUSA), and the Graduate Student Association (GSA) held the first Waterloo @ the Intersections event. The inaugural “On Belonging” was a thought-provoking and engaging event with the over-arching goal of bringing together the Waterloo community to discuss one important question: How has the experience of community shifted for you, for me, for us since the pandemic began?
The Advising Community of Practice invites you to submit a proposal to present at the 2023 Advisor Conference, a hybrid event taking place April 25-26, 2023. We hope you can share your advising best practices, theories, and/or approaches, or information about campus supports, services, and tools.

The Student Success Office is opening a call to student support units to participate in a new event for student-facing employees, such as academic advisors, program coordinators, immigration consultants and others who work directly with current students. As campus returns to primarily in-person learning for the first fall term since 2019, staff and faculty are working hard to re-orient students to our campus.
“As the fall term fast approaches, we eagerly await the arrival of the class of 2022," wrote Chris Read, associate provost, students in a memo circulated to faculty and staff on August 2, 2022. “Soon, new students will move into on-campus housing and make Waterloo their new home, and we'll see the return of in-person Orientation events. I invite you to join me, and many others in volunteering to welcome our newest Warriors and their supporters to the University of Waterloo.”
As students continue their transition back to in-person learning and on-campus experiences for the spring 2022 term, the Student Success Office (SSO) will offer a variety of services and resources in a hybrid model to best meet their needs.
