Reza’s research focuses on the real-time characteristics of travel time on freeways. He is developing a framework to proactively predict traffic conditions along a freeway route using real-time and historical measurements of fixed point detectors. The proposed framework would be able to predict the mean and the empirical distribution of travel speed in real-time, and provide additional inputs to conventional travelers’ information systems and proactive traffic management systems. He has published 3 journal papers and 4 conference papers to-date, and has some more in the works.
