Norah has a BA in Archaeology from Damascus University in Syria and completed her MA in History at the University of Guelph. She is currently working as a teaching assistant/ sessional lecturer for Arabic courses at Renison University College and as a private TASOL (Teaching Arabic as a Second Language) tutor. In her spare time, Norah enjoys volunteering, reading, watching movies, and spending time with family and friends.
For her Ph.D. project, Norah will collaborate with Dr. Catherine Carstairs to research the historical trajectory of diabetes within the Canadian context, with a specific focus on the experiences of Arab and South Asian immigrants. This study will cover the period from 1967, which coincides with the introduction of Canada's Immigration Point System, to the present day. It will also align with the significant changes in Canada’s food landscape that have contributed to the growing incidence of diabetes.
