My work aims to overcome the monolithic limitations of currentmicrofluidic systems, which typically require researchers to fabricate a new device for every specific experiment. I am developing an actively controlled, modular platform that operates like a robotic system, allowing users to assemble and reconfigure functional units for complex tasks. My current research is focused on applying this technology to fully automate the encapsulation, storage, and sorting of biological sample such as organoids, aiming to make microfluidic technology more accessible and efficient for the biotech industry.

My previous research centered on the development and patenting of irreversible electroporation technologies for tumor ablation in Royal University Hospital. I am formally trained in systematic engineering design methodologies, with a strong foundation in the German tradition of systematic design and the Function-Context-Behavior-Principle-State-Structure ontology. Currently, my work focuses on integrating these established design ontologies with General Design Theory to engineer and optimize modern microfluidic systems.
