Business Arising
Home page upgrade for WCMS 3 (Tom Graham)
- The homepage upgrade presentation is available.
- The goal is for the homepage upgrade to benefit all users/audiences and the campus at large.
WCMS Technical Update (Kevin Paxman)
- Since November’s WAC, there have been multiple WCMS releases
- WCMS 3.1.0, which switched us to using Drupal 9
- WCMS 3.1.1 and 3.1.2, regular feature releases
- WCMS 3.1.3, a maintenance release fixing a vulnerability
- WCMS 3.1.4, the next regular feature release, should start building next week (slightly later in the sprint than usual, as we have been onboarding coops).
- Focus points in the current sprint include:
- Adding the thumbnail option from WCMS 2 to the image gallery
- Beginning creation of the project content type
- Adding exceptions for service hours to the service content type
- Adjusting the multi-banner theming to match WCMS 2 and make it officially supported
- Hired 2 developer QA coops for the term, that started last week, with the primary goal of improving our automated testing; will be looking to hire 2 more for the upcoming term.
- Looking for volunteers to test and provide feedback within the next three weeks on the new expand/collapse demoed today; email Kevin if you would like to volunteer.
- Drupal security release today; not likely affected so will go out with the next WCMS 3 release.
Training and Support (Charlotte Armstrong)
- WCMS 3 Fundamentals (234 registrants with training sites, 41% have completed the remainder are still in progress) 274 registered in LEARN, 30% of them have never logged in,
- WCMS 3 training sites: WCMS 3 training sites are mandatory to complete activities AND use to test and experience WCMS 3 features
- Do website leads wish to be notified if a user completes the training but did not register for a training site? We’ve had an increase of this occurrence.
- Recommendation that users take the WCMS 3 training close to the time they will be working on WCMS 3 sites because
- Training sites expire 4 months after creation
- Avoid confusion with WCMS 2 site training and knowledge
- Knowledge retention
- WCMS 3 site migration remediation training (4 participants so far): it is essential to complete WCMS 3 fundamentals first, only necessary for teams that will be conducting their own remediation and recommended to be taken close to the migration date. https://uwaterloo.ca/web-resources/wcms-3-users/wcms-3-training-and-support/wcms-3-migration-remediation-training.
- WCMS 3 Web forms is now live: the course, like WCMS 3, continues to evolve and improve so feedback is welcome. WCMS 3 Fundamentals is the prerequisite.
- Advent calendar: Great blogs with more information about WCMS 3 features! https://uwaterloo.ca/building-the-next-wcms/blog/tags/2021-advent-calendar.
Migration Status (Joe Kwan)
- The WCMS3 form has been updated, and with appropriate links.
- it was asked if another field can be added to the form, so that it can read content owner and primary website manager. Charlotte assured that this will be consiered.
2022 high-level road map (Joe Kwan)
Discussed road map deployment.
