The Ontario Graduate Mathematics Conference (OGMC) is a new conference meant for all Ontario graduate students in any mathematical field. The inaugural OGMC was hosted by the University of Waterloo from June 7 to 9, 2024
The conference was initiated by William Verreault from the University of Toronto (UofT) and Jérémy Champagne from the University of Waterloo (UWaterloo). Spearheaded by the UWaterloo Women in Mathematics (WiM) committee, the conference was jointly organized by WiM and the OGMC Central and Local Committees. The OGMC also received strong support from the UWaterloo Math Graduate Office and the Math Communications and Events team.
Thanks to the generous financial support from the UWaterloo Faculty of Mathematics and other esteemed sponsors, WiM and the OGMC Central and Local Committees were thrilled to expand the participant capacity from 100 to 150. Despite the increased capacity, the OGMC had to close registration ten days early due to the overwhelming interest, quickly reaching maximum capacity. This showed the high demand for the conference among math graduate students in Ontario, proving its value and importance in the academic community.
WiM and the OGMC Central and Local Committees are excited to build on this success by organizing even more events to support and inspire the mathematics community in the future.
