About Waterloo Women Leading Academia

The mission of the Waterloo Women Leading Academia (WWLA) is to help empower women to lead in professional, academic and their personal lives. We do so by providing mentorship opportunities for graduate and undergraduate women in academia that are looking to make it a career and create a sustainable work-life balance at the same time.

WWLA supports the feminine spirit of empowerment and leadership, and encourages women and their allies to participate in providing equity in the workplace as well as in their social communities. WWLA is led by an all-women team and Faculty Advisory Council (spanning across various Faculties at the University of Waterloo) which has been created to help shape the scope and direction of this programme in terms of its current initiatives and future priorities.

We are a socially inclusive group that is welcoming of cis, trans, racialized, Indigenous, Indigenous, LGBTQ+ and non-binary people. We are a community of mentors and mentees that come from the University of Waterloo's Faculty-level to the graduate or undergraduate student level.
