Despite the challenges and hardships individuals experienced as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, these unfortunate circumstances presented a unique opportunity to study widespread organizational change in the context of co-operative education.

The first phase of this study focused on students’ experiences related to the COVID-19 crisis during their co-op work terms, and where applicable, their transition from a traditional work setting to a remote work setting part way throughout the term. Data was collected from over 1000 students via an online survey.

The second phase of this study was conducted via interviews with 50 students and aimed to develop a better understanding of the factors that affected successful transitions to remote work as well as the challenges students were faced with and overcame during this time of adversity.
